Northern Counties Annual

NCPF 2012 Myles Audas Trophy smallerPenrith Camera Club is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB).  The PAGB is made up of 15 regional Federations across the country, and each of these Federations are in turn made up of their local Camera Clubs.

Penrith is part of the Northern Counties Photographic Federation (NCPF), which is home to 52 Camera Clubs across the north of England.  Each year, usually in April, the NCPF holds a competition which is open to individual Camera Club members.  Members must enter through their External Competition Secretary (the hand-in date is always advertised on our main Club programme and at the bottom of this page), who will arrange for prints and PDIs to be sent to the NCPF and returned following judging.

There are three sections:

  • Colour prints
  • Mono prints
  • PDIs

In addition, there are two classes: Open & Beginners.  A beginner is classed as a Camera Club member who has not won any kind of award in any previous NCPF annual competition or has not been awarded a photographic distinction.

Members may submit up to 3 images in each section of the Open class, making a maximum entry of 9 images.

Beginners may submit up to 2 images in each section of the Beginner’s Class, making a maximum entry of 6 images.  Just to complicate things, Beginners may also enter 1 image into each section of the Open class if they would like to, just as long as their combined entry doesn’t exceed 9 images.

Prints should be mounted as you would for a Camera Club competition, with mounts not exceeding 500mm x 400mm.  Special labels to go on the back of prints will be sent via email from the External Competition Secretary.  PDIs should be sized as you would for a Camera Club competition, ie a maxiumum of 1400 pixels horizontally and 1050 pixels vertically, and given the title you wish the image to be known by.

The results from the competition are often not known for several weeks after judging, but will be available on our website as soon as they are announced.

Images from this competition may be chosen to represent the Northern Counties at national PAGB competitions.  More information about the NCPF Annual can be found on the NCPF website.
